  • Nitrous oxide analgesia has an excellent safety record.
  • Having any adverse effects from nitrous oxide are rare.
  • The most common adverse effect is nausea and vomiting. This only occurs in 0.5-1.2 ⁒ of patients.
  • To be cautious, continue to watch your child for 6 hours following the procedure.
  • Do not allow your child to play on stairs, ride a bicycle, or engage in any activity that requires balance for at least 6 hours after the appointment.
