about
What
is Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation dentistry involves the use of medication to help children relax during their dental procedures. It's not about putting your child to sleep (unless it's a more complex procedure), but rather helping them feel calm and at ease throughout the treatment.
This can be particularly helpful for children who are fearful, have a low pain threshold, or need more extensive dental work.

Types
of Sedation We Offer
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Nitrous oxide is a mild sedative that helps children relax and feel comfortable during their dental visit. It is inhaled through a small mask and wears off quickly after the procedure, allowing your child to return to normal activities right away.

IV Sedation
In some cases, IV sedation is used for more involved dental procedures. This method ensures your child is deeply relaxed and comfortable, with minimal memory of the procedure afterward. Board-certified anesthesiologists oversee every procedure for maximum safety and peace of mind.

General Anesthesia
General anesthesia is a procedure where your child is fully asleep, typically recommended for high anxiety, special needs, or extensive dental work. It is performed in a hospital setting, ensuring safety with close monitoring by an anesthesia professional for a comfortable, stress-free experience.

What to
Expect
Before, During, and After
Knowing what to expect before, during, and after sedation helps you feel prepared and ensures a calm, safe, and positive experience for your child.
Before the Appointment
We’ll review your child’s medical history and discuss any concerns. If your child is receiving oral sedation or nitrous oxide, you may be given instructions on eating or drinking before the appointment.

During the Appointment
Your child will relax under the supervision of our dental team, while we perform the necessary procedures. The experience is designed to be stress-free and comfortable.

After the Appointment
Following the procedure, your child will be monitored until the sedation wears off. For nitrous oxide, recovery is immediate, but oral and IV sedation may require more time. We’ll give you detailed aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth recovery.
